He became the principal channel for promoting a friendly press for Russia in western Europe, and he made contacts for Rachkovsky with leading ministers and politicians, including even President Loubet. In a red cloth binding with gilt title detailing to the spine. Externally, sound with some marks to boards; ink staining, and rubbing in places, with bumping and very slight loss to the extremities. The front hinge is tender. Internally, generally firmly bound, although strained in places. The pages are generally bright and clean with scattered spotting and light foxing to the first and final few pages. There is a paper bookplate of Woburn Abbey, 1873, adhered to the front pastedown; some pages remain unopened, and there are three small closed tears to p.328. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
