Daudet was a novelist and journalist in Nineteenth Century France, known at the time for his Monarchist and fervant anti-republican views. His sons, Leon and Lucien, would become famous writers in their own right. In decoarative calf binding with gilt detailing in a custom slip case. Externally very smart indeed, there is only slight wear to the joints and backstrip. The slipcase features more prominent wear and is peeling slightly in places.
