Text begins on A2 with A Treatise of the Gout beginning with new pagination on 2a1r. Originally written in Latin by Daniel Sennert, a renowned German physician and prolific academic writer. Sennert was a professor of medicine at the University of Wittenberg for many years and is notable for his contribution to atomic theory. Translated by Nicholas Culpeper, an English botanist, herbalist, physician and astrologer. He is best known for his Complete Herbal, a work of great importance which contains a wealth of pharmaceutical and herbal knowledge which influenced the evolution of pharmaceuticals and herbalism. A fascinating and scarce work of great interest to those with an interest in medical history and the medical science of the 17th century. In a contemporary full calf binding.
