Sennert was a professor of medicine at the University of Wittenberg for many years and is notable for his contribution to atomic theory. Translated by Nicholas Culpeper, an English botanist, herbalist, physician and astrologer. He is best known for his Complete Herbal, a work of great importance which contains a wealth of pharmaceutical and herbal knowledge which influenced the evolution of pharmaceuticals and herbalism. A fascinating and scarce work of great interest to those with an interest in medical history and the medical science of the 17th century. In a contemporary full calf binding. Rebacked, with gilt detailing to the spine. Externally, smart with rubbing to extremities, and chipping to spine label. Internally, firmly bound.
