The volumes cover from Caesar's invasions up to the end of the Second Boer War.With twenty-four plates to volumes I-III, thirty-two plates to volume IV, and numerous in-text illustrations to each. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth bindings, with the original glassine wrappers. Externally, very smart, with mild shelf wear and a couple minor marks to the extremities. Glassines have light edge wear and the odd spot to the wraps. With a couple small closed tears. Internally, firmly bound, with light spots to the endpapers, otherwise pages are bright and clean.
