The letter was addressed to the burgomasters of Haarlem, the city in which Hooghe lived, and regards Hooghes setting up an art school in the city. Illustrated with a frontispiece, and an additional signed impression of the frontispiece. Translated to English by Adriaan van der Willigen. In the original publisher's marbled paper covered boards. Externally, smart. Very light rubbing to the spine, small tear to the tail of the rear joint. Internally, firmly bound.
