A collection of ten programmes cloth-bound in one volume. Beginning in 1877, Hans Richter often conducted concerts at St. James's Hall in London under the direction of violinist Hermann Franke. These 'Orchestral Festival Concerts', which commenced after Easter, were among the chief rivals to the Philharmonic Society programmes.This volume comprises concerts put on during 1885 and 1886, offering the following programmes:Autumn Season, 1885:'First Concert' - Saturday, October 24 'Second Concert' - Tuesday, November 3 'Third Concert' - Wednesday, November 11 Thirteenth Series, 1886:'Second Concert' - Monday, May 10 'Third Concert' - Monday, May 17 'Fourth Concert' - Monday, May 24 'Fifth Concert' - Monday, May 31 'Seventh Concert' - Thursday, June 10 'Eighth Concert' - Monday, June 21'Ninth (and last) Concert' - Monday, June 28 Bound in full brown cloth. Externally, smart, with rubbing to the extremities, notably to the spine head. With a white ink mark to the spine tail. Institutional bookplate from the North Devon Athenaeum Barnstaple to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound.
