This set features; 'Volume I', which includes no.1, May 11th 1867-no. 34, December 28 1867, 'Volume II', which includes no. 35 January 1868-no. 60 June 27 1868, and 'Volume III' which includes no. 61 July 4th 1868- no.86 December 1868. A three volume set.An uncommon periodical, featuring the scarce to see third volume. Illustrated with monocolour title pages, monochrome vignettes, and thirty-four plates, including monochrome, folding and monocolour plates, to 'Vol I', twenty-seven to 'Vol II', and twenty-five to 'Vol III&apos. This set features a collection of volumes of 'The Tomahawk' a political satirical journal published between 1867-70. The journal included many articles featuring commentary and witty remarks on political situations and daily affairs. The stories were accompanied with illustrations by Matt Morgan, known for his political cartoons. The periodicals featured contributions from the likes of Alfred Thompson, Gilbert A. Beckett, and Thomas Gibson Bowles. In the original publisher's gilt cloth. In the publisher's original cloths. Externally smart with minimal wear to the extremities, very slight cockling to the joints of 'Vol II', and the odd very slight mark to the boards. Front hinge somewhat tender to 'Vol III', starting to 'Vol II' before the index, with spotting to the endpapers and a bookplate belonging to 'Thomas Aloysius Perry' to the front pastedowns.
