During the Great War, Churchill served as First Lord of the Admiralty, which almost cost him his political career when he was scapegoated for the disaster of the Dardanelles at Gallipoli and forced to resign. He gained favour again before the end of the war and re-joined the Government. With one uniform title page to part one. In the original paper wraps. Externally, sound with light wear and the odd crease to the extremities. Sunning to the spines with light chipping to the head and tail of the spines resulting in light loss to the odd volume. Contemporary ink inscription to the front panel of volumes twenty-four, twenty-five, and twenty-six. Hinges starting but firm, with the hinges of volumes one and five failed. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. The odd small crease to the page edges. A price sticker to the front endpaper of volume one. Good .
