Presented to an Eton graduate by Edward Lyttelton, an English schoolmaster, cleric and sportsman from the Lyttelton family who was headmaster of Eton College from 1905 to 1916, in the year 1912. Containing Gray's original poems as well as translations into English and Latin verse of the works of Petrarca, from the Anthologia Græca, and others. Written by Thomas Gray, an English poet, letter-writer, and classical scholar widely known for his Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard. Bound by Spottiswoode & Co. London. Bound in half calf with green cloth boards. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor wear to the extremities. Light fading to the spine with the odd small mark. Internally, firmly bound.
