Singmaster was emeritus professor of mathematics at London South Bank University, and was a puzzle historian, a big fan of mechanical puzzles, and an early adopter and promoter of the Rubik's Cube. In the original cloth binding. Externally, the front board is detached but present. Loss to the backstrip and rear joint. Light rubbing and marks to the cloth. Spine is faded. Rear hinge is starting but firm. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound, first thirty-three pages are working loose.
