This collection contains some of her best known and most highly regarded works, including: Moral Tales, Popular Tales, Belinda, Castle Rackrent, Tales of Fashionable Life, The Absentee, Patronage, Comic Dramas, Harrington, Helen, and many others. Previously held in the library of Reverend James Tuttle Smith, an American preacher and rector of the Church of the Resurrection in Manhattan, then known as the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. In the original half calf binding with marbled boards. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the extremities and the odd small mark to the boards. Minor loss to the head of the spine to volumes one, two, and four with fading to the spines of all volumes. Rear hinge of volume five starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. Light spotting and age toning to the first and last few pages. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown.
