A collection of the letters written by Rupert Chawner Brooke, an English poet known for his idealistic war sonnets written during the First World War, especially "The Soldier", to his publisher in the years 1911 to 1914, the last of which is dated October 1914. Brooke became ill while sailing with the British Mediterranean Expeditionary Force in February of 1915 and died of septicaemia at on 23rd April 1915, on the French hospital ship Duguay-Trouin. In the original quarter paper binding with cloth covered boards. Externally, excellent. Original paper covered slip case is also excellent. Internally, firmly bound.
