Illustrated with a frontispiece (bound facing page 1), and numerous in-text and full page illustrations. Written by George Lillie Crick, a Scottish author. His other works included 'History of British Commerce', 'History of English Literature and the English Language', and more, though 'The New Zealanders' is his best known work. Bound in half calf with cloth boards. Without the half title. Externally, generally smart, with rubbing to joints and extremities. Hinges are a touch strained, but holding generally firm.
