 - Original Love Letters between a Lady of Quality and a Person of Inferior Station

Title: Original Love Letters between a Lady of Quality and a Person of Inferior Station
Description: Dublin, Hibernia Press, 1811. Leather. A vanishingly scarce collection of anonymously written love letters, likely edited by William Combe. Vanishingly scarce. Lacking the front and rear boards, but retaining the original leather spine. Published anonymously, however likely edited by William Combe, a British miscellaneous writer who was known for writing a series of imaginary letters, supposedly written by figures such as Lord Lyttelton and between Jonathan Swift and "Stella". The editor states in the preface that they were sent these letters "from the country" with a request of their supervising for publication so that their identity may remain anonymous. The letters are expressive and philosophical, and shed light on the social differences between a high society lady and a gentleman of inferior circumstances. Lacking the front and rear boards, but retaining the original spine. With rubbing to its extremities and a library's location label to the tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright, with occasional scattered spots and a library ink impression to pages 7 and 13. Fair . Ill.: None. Fair .
