October 6, 1934". In this work Eric Partridge has put together a selection of verse by the Three Wartons; Thomas Warton the Elder and his two sons, Thomas Warton the Younger and Joseph Warton. Up until this publication there were very few reprints of the Warton's work, so Partridge aimed to bring light to this and give a selection of poetry from all three Wartons. Thomas Warton the Elder was an English clergyman and a professor of poetry at Oxford. Joseph Warton and Thomas Warton the Younger were both well-known for their academia in English, with the latter being appointed Poet Laureate in 1785. Partridge included many of their verse, as well as a note and a select bibliography of the Warton's work. Bound in the publisher's quarter cloth with paper-covered boards. Externally, generally smart, with rubbing to extremities and some fading to the boards and spine. A little loss to paper to the front board. Ink inscription to front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound with bright, clean pages. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
