A very scarce New Zealand directory for the years 1880-1881, comprising an alphabetical directory for the entire country, including street directories of the cities, separate directories for seven hundred townships, as well as directories for roads, trade and various companies. Published by the Dunedin-based publishing house, Henry Wise & Co. who specialised in the publication of maps and directories of the country. With the publisher's original advertisements showcasing companies from New Zealand, England and Australia, including 14 pages to the front and a further 120 to the rear. With adverts in gilt to the cloth covers.Stamp of the 'Incorporated Law Society of the United Kingdom' to the title page. Bound in the publisher's cloth. Externally, backstrip is worn, lacking a large portion. Light rubbing to board extremities. Internally, first few pages of ads are strained, with page xiv disbound but present. Stamp to title page.
