Set in Edinburgh in the 1830s, the story begins with a fight between Rab and a bull terrier witnessed by the narrator, a teenage boy. Written by John Brown, a Scottish physician and essayist. Bound by Burn & Co. In the original green cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the extremities and minor fading to the spine. Small splits in the cloth to the head and tail of the spine. Front hinge starting but firm with front free endpaper loosening. Internally, firmly bound.
