It is the work for which he is primarily renowned and an exemplar of what became known as the school of graveyard poetry. "Death", a poetical essay for which the author won the Seatonian Prize, a work for which he is still remembered. Written by Beilby Porteus, a Bishop and a leading abolitionist in England. "The Day of Judgement", a philosophical poem by Robert Glyn, an English physician, known as a generous eccentric. Although it was insinuated that he was not the author of his own poem. "The Last Day", a poem dedicated to Queen Anne the year before her death. Written by Edward Young, an English poet, best remembered for a series of philosophical writings in blank verse, reflecting his state of mind following several bereavements. "Deity", a poem influenced by Alexander Pope's Essay on Man. Written by Samuel Boyse, an Irish poet and writer who worked for Sir Robert Walpole and whose religious verses were prized and reprinted in his time. In the original paper covered boards. Externally, sound with rubbing and chipping to the extremities. Light bumping to the board tips with sunning to the spine and board edges. Light loss of the paper to the head and tail of the spine as well as the joints. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot and age toning to the endpapers. Good .
