A collection of five parodies and one story written by English caricaturist, essayist and parodist, Max Beerbohm. This collection followed a similar work by Beerbohm, 'A Christmas Garland', which contained seventeen parodies and was first published in 1912. Known for his humorous parodies, Beerbohm had a gift for imitating the written style of popular writers of his day. In this particular collection, stories were "woven" in the style of "M*rie C*r*lli", "R*ch*rd G*ll**nn*", "H. G. W*lls", 'I*n M*cl*r*n" and "Al*ce M**n*ll", with the final story in the collection accredited simply to Max Beerbohm. Beerbohm created this collection to spread joy and "good motive" at Christmas, with the themes of each tale surrounding this festive holiday. Bound in the publisher's original paper-covered boards. Externally, very smart, with fading to the board extremities and spine. A few marks to the boards. Bookseller label to rear paste down.
