They begun work on the tunnel, which measures at 7,008 metres long, in 1873, to link South Gloucestershire to Monmouthshire, and remained the longest underwater tunnel in the world for a century. Designed by GWR's chief engineer Sir John Hawkshaw, this tunnel is considered to be his crowning achievement. Unbound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with light handling marks.
