Reed, Bristol to the tail, dated November 16th 1885.The Severn Tunnel was opened by Great Western Railway in 1886. They begun work on the tunnel, which measures at 7,008 metres long, in 1873, to link South Gloucestershire to Monmouthshire, and remained the longest underwater tunnel in the world for a century. Designed by GWR's chief engineer Sir John Hawkshaw, this tunnel is considered to be his crowning achievement. Unbound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with light handling marks.
