Douglas and Lawrence were both friends of Magnus, and Douglas was his literary executor. Lawrence's introduction to the memoir was used to sell the book, but Douglas felt he had maligned his dear friend. This feud between Douglas and Lawrence was long-running and this publication was the first foray into the public sphere of the voicing of Douglas' distaste. In the original paper wraps.
