The compete three volume population tables of the 1851 census, providing information on the growth of the nation's population from 1801, and illustrated with a wealth of folding maps. The scarce 1851 census detailing the population of England and Wales in 1851, printed and published by Her Majesty's Stationary Office and presented to the Houses of Parliament in 1852. Complete, with all three volumes bound in two. Volumes I and II of the Population Tables of the census are present, with volume III, the index volume, bound in to the rear of volume II. Volume I is divided into six divisions, with individual paginations and half titles, with each division detailing the population in various counties in the first half of the nineteenth century. This volume is illustrated with twelve maps, eleven of which are folding, and the majority of which are in colour.Volume II is divided into five divisions. This volume is illustrated with five folding maps.The index volume provides information on Scotland and the 'Islands in the British Seas&apos.Collated, complete.Bound in half vellum with marbled paper covered boards, and with the stamp of the Hatfield House Library to the title pages and throughout each volume.
