Known for his humorous and striking woodcut illustrations, Crawhall contributed to many issues of Punch magazine, as well as producing a number of books himself. This charming work is filled with over eighty woodcut illustrations, depicting animals, various objects and figures relating to royalty. Illustrations accompany a series of verses and stories, including humorous "articles" from newspapers. With amusing advertising to the rear wrap: "What?!! -only ONE SHILLING! this choyce Souvenir, for Loyall and Leale in OUR JUBILEE Year!". Bound in the publisher's original pictorial wrap. Very fragile work. Wraps have almost entirely detached, with a small piece of tape holding the front in place. Loss to the majority of the backstrip. Chipping to the wrap extremities and the end pages. Age toning to wraps, with a few marks. Internally, binding is tender, with the first three pages disbound.
