The tale explores the disintegration of the American through his exploration of the brothels, drugs and unsavoury characters of the city, in his encounters with a culture alien to him. Written by Paul Frederic Bowles, an American expatriate composer, author, and translator. In the original quarter cloth with paper covered boards. Externally, very smart with light wear to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is sound with light wear and chipping to the extremities. Minor loss to the head and tail of the spine with the odd small closed tear to the panel edges. Light sunning to the spine with a 4" tear to the spine resulting in light loss.
