Dated from records of the production. A theatre programme for a performance of Sydney Grundy's comedy-drama, "Mammon", written for W. H. Vernon in 1877. Comprised of a 7:45pm showing of "Man Proposes", a comedietta, also written by Grundy, starring Louise Moodie, C. Duvernay and J. D. Beveridge, followed by "Mammon" at 8:30pm. Performed at Duke's Theatre, Holborn, under the management of Thomas W. Charles. Written by English dramatist Sydney Grundy, best remembered for his comic operas and for his adaptations of European plays. Illustrated with charming vignettes, with an advertisement to the rear wrap and opinions of the press.  Bound in the publisher's paper wraps. Externally, sound, with edge wear and small closed tears to the extremities, heavier to the tail of the wrap. The odd mark and a little age toning.
