On his voyage home, his ship was wrecked on the rocks of Temby. Collated, bound without the folding map. From the library of William Cavendish-Bentinck, 6th Duke of Portland, with his bookplate to the front paste down. Portland was a Conservative politician, who served as Master of the Horse for a total of seventeen years. His half-sister was the society hostess and Bloomsbury member Lady Ottoline Morrell. In a full calf binding. Externally, rear board is detached but present. Front board is held by cords only. Leather is rubbed, with a small amount of loss and lifting to the extremities, and to the spine, including to the spine label. Light marks to the boards. Bookplate to the front paste down.
