Known for a number of significant contributions to science and medicine, in particular for inventing the "Carte Chronogrpahique", an umbrella fitted with a lightning conductor.This particular work surrounds the botanical world in 1767, with focus on botany in Paris. Volume I contains two texts, with separate paginations, one detailing a new method of botany, and the second containing a catalogue of typical garden plants. The second volume presents the various plants found in the surroundings of Paris. With the half title to Volume I and the blanks retained. With two pages of errata to Volume I and four pages to II.Ink inscription dated 1792 to title page. Bound in full mottled calf. Externally, generally smart, with rubbing and bumping to the extremities, causing slight loss to board corners. A few small worm holes to volume I backstrip. Joints are slightly cracked. Front hinges are strained, a little tender. Label to front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with an ink inscription to the title page and the occasional further ink notation. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
