Collated, complete.'The Pickwick Papers' is Dickens' first novel, and was originally written in serial form.The novel is a sequence of loosely connected adventures and characters, occurring between 1827 and 1828. As with many of Dickens' other works, this novel shows the grimy side of poverty and prosperity in Victorian England, showing poor social conditions alongside repulsive characters.Illustrated by Phiz, who is known for illustrating many of Dickens' works, and Robert Seymour, who died before he could complete his illustrations for this work. Bound in full calf. Externally, sound, with rubbing to the spine and extremities. Marks to boards and spine. Chipping causing loss to spine label. Hinges are a touch strained, but holding firm. Ink inscription to front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright, although have darkened to plates, with spotting and discolouration, as is common with these plates.
