The second edition.An impressive reference work, detailing all of the artists who exhibited in principal London exhibitions from 1760 to 1893.This is a brilliant source of information on exhibitions of the Georgian and Victorian eras, detailing the names of the artist, their home-town, the first and last year of their exhibiting, their speciality, then noting how many times they exhibited across a total of fourteen institutions, including the Royal Academy. Compiled by the art historian and art dealer Algernon Graves. He begun this work whilst recovering from an injury, using his own extensive lists that he had compiled whilst working on other projects. In the original publisher's quarter morocco binding with cloth to the boards. Externally generally smart, with rubbing to the boards and spine. A small amount of loss to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Light marks to the boards and spine. Spine is discoloured. Small tear to the head of the rear joint. Small patch of cockling to the rear board. Front hinge is a little strained but remains firm, rear hinge is starting but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with a few scattered spots. Institutional stamp to the title page, and to a couple of other pages. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
