Written anonymously in an exercise book, this handwritten work presents an account of the sensational murder mystery case known as the "Campden Wonder".Based on events in the seventeenth century, this intriguing story found itself at the centre of the news at the time, with events documented by local gentleman and justice of the peace, Sir Thomas Overbury.A fascinating mystery, surrounding the disappearance of William Harrison, supposedly murdered by his servant and their family, with his servant's sworn admission to the crime sentencing himself and his family to death. However, with no body found, Harrison subsequently returned to the area two years later, with shocking claims of  an abduction by pirates to account for his whereabouts. Overbury presented the case in a pamphlet entitled 'A true and perfect account of the examination, confession, trial, condemnation and execution of Joan Perry, and her two sons, John and Richard Perry, for the supposed murder of Will. Harrison&apos. Overbury's pamphlet has been used here as the basis of this handwritten work, including the title page as it would appear in Overbury's account, with the publisher's name and extended title. Bound in a paperback exercise book. Externally, sound, with fading to the wraps and the odd mark. Tears to the jonts and loss to the backstrip. Cover is slightly tender. Internally, textblock is firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
