It has since been adapted to musicals, operas and plays.With nine plates - retaining their original tissue guards - by Henry Holiday, a British painter, illustrator and sculptor. Holiday was commissioned to illustrate this work in 1874, and remained good friends with Carroll throughout the rest of their lives.Collated, complete.With an advertisement leaf to the rear.With a former owner's inscription to the half title.A lovely example of this work from the author of 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland&apos. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Bumping and minor loss of cloth to back strip head and tail, with small horizontal split to cloth towards back strip tail. Rear joint starting, with board firmly held. Front hinge strained but firmly held. Inscription to half title. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally clean and bright. Very Good .
