He is best known for his prolific output of wood engravings which achieved great international success. With a frontispiece, thirty-nine engraved plates and three vignettes. Collated, complete. This is Samuel Taylor Coleridge's longest major poem, recounting the experiences of a sailor who has returned from a long sea voyage. The poem uses personification and repetition to create a sense of danger, the supernatural, or serenity. With a 'Life of Coleridge' section to the beginning of the work.  In the original cloth binding. Externally, with rubbing to the extremities, notably to the spine head and tail. Title to the front board is faded. With marks to the boards and a damp stain to the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the odd spot. With a repair made to a closed tear to plate facing Part the Seventh. Good . Ill.: Gustave Dore. Good .
