The novel uses much of the Norfolk dialect and reflects his feelings on the 'uneducated' people who live in the area. In the publisher's original cloth. Externally generally smart with fading and marks to the spine, marks to the boards, slight bumping with wear, and tears to the head and tail of the spine. 'R. C. Fiske' bookplate to front pastedown, front hinge tender and spotting to endpapers. Internally, binding starting and strained in places but otherwise firm.
