James Blyth [Henry James Catling Clabburn] - Folly&Apos;S Gate

Title: Folly&Apos;S Gate
Description: London, John Long, Limited, 1911. Cloth. A second edition copy of this very scarce novel from British author James Blyth. Second edition. Very scarce work. Dickie Lound, or Lord Richard Lound, was one of those fine specimens of the human race who can still be found in the Upper Chamber despite the diatribes of the great unwashed and their leaders. He was what eighteenth-century ladies would call a "charlatan", but it was his charitable heart that encouraged him to marry Ruth Wharncliffe, born of a family which hardly reached the social eminence permitted to the bourgeois. Written by Henry James Catling Clabburn, a British author who changed his name legally to James Blyth in 1898. A fairly prolific producer of popular fiction, he is best remembered in the science fiction field for his Future War novels. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, sound with rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities resulting in light fraying. Fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. A split in the cloth to the front joint with a small split to the tail of the spine. Small puncture marks to the rear board. Front hinge just starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting. Previous owner's bookplates to the front pastedown with residue of library sticker to the rear pastedown. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
