Title: Vain Flirtation
Description: London, John Long, Limited, c1916. First edition. Cloth. A smart first edition of this very scarce work from British author James Blyth. First edition, second state. Very scarce. Opening after a good day's sport in Norfolk, on a cloudy December afternoon, with the Hon. Alfred Oakstead inviting his party to the bailiff's house for hot drinks. He would make sure to have a nice chat with the bailiff's pretty daughter. Written by Henry James Catling Clabburn, a British author who changed his name legally to James Blyth in 1898. A fairly prolific producer of popular fiction, he is best remembered in the science fiction field for his Future War novels. With publisher's advertisements to the rear. Dated from the British Library. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Further spotting and minor age toning to the first and last few pages, with the previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
