These novels explore the lives of a group of Europeans before, during, and after the Second World War. Monsieur (1974) won the James Tait Black Memorial Prize and Constance (1982) was nominated for the Booker Prize.  The author and dramatist Lawrence Durrell (1912-1990) was best known for The Alexandria Quartet. In the publisher's original cloth bindings, with the original unclipped dust wrappers. Externally, in lovely condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Dust wrappers are generally smart and bright, with light chipping to the head and tail of the spine of the wraps and faint scattered spotting, more so to the reverse of the dust wrapper to 'Monsieur&apos.
