Bound in the publisher's original bright red cloth. The novel follows a gathering of guests at a country house who are disturbed by a sudden death. Luckily, Poirot is in attendance. The main players include a downtrodden wife, her successful husband, and the reappearance of an old flame. The country house setting for this novel was inspired by Francis L. Sullivan's house. Sullivan portrayed Poirot in the plays 'Black Coffee' and 'Peril at End House&apos. In addition he also played the lead in the 1953 production of 'Witness for the Prosecution', for which he won a Tony. With an ink inscription 'To Chris with Best Wishes for 1947- John&apos. Bound in the publisher's original bright red cloth. Externally, very good, with light bumping to the extremities and the odd mark to cloth. Spine is a little sunned. Light scattered spotting to fore edge. Ink inscription to front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with the occasional spot to the page extremities. Very Good .
