Known for his humorist works, Twain was celebrated as one of the greatest American writers, being labelled by William Faulkner as "the father of American literature". With the bookplate of Irish entomologist and arachnologist, Denis Robert Pack Beresford. Bound in the publisher's original pictorial red cloth. Externally, sound, with slight bumping to the extremities, causing some fraying to the spine head and tail. Light damp staining to the board extremities. Fading and a little discolouration to the spine. Bookplate to front paste down. Front hinge is tender, with cords visible, and rear hinge a little strained. Internally, title page and half title are working loose. Otherwise, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright, with just the odd handling mark. Staples are beginning to rust, leaving marks to the inner margin. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
