The first edition of this very scarce work. In the publisher's original quarter cloth, with printed paper covers. Intended for the use of botany students, this work offers an illustrative guide to the structural properties of various flora found typically in British landscapes. With a plethora of charming lithographs carried out by the author, George Henslow, an Anglican curate, botanist and interestingly a notable defender of Lamarckian evolution. With eight plates of illustrations. Collated complete from copies held institutionally. In the original quarter cloth, with printed paper covers. Externally, worn, with a few chips to the printed paper cover and damp staining to the extremities. With edge wear and a loss to the front board. Marks to the boards. Front hinge is tender. Internally, generally firmly bound, with the front free endpapers separated due to front hinge tenderness, but remaining attached.
