John Doran (1807-1878) was an author of a number of works on the subjects of social history, etiquette, biography and antiquities. He also edited The Athenaeum, and supplied the Bath Journal with lyrical translations.In this work, Doran compiles a collection of anecdotes concerning the psychology of habits, and how they can affect one's personality and success. Doran's works on etiquette and psychology were very popular in the Victorian era.Six pages of advertisements to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with two small tears to the rear joint and two larger tears to the head and tail of the front joint, causing the backstrip to lift slightly.
