Smollett was best known as an author, who's works, including 'The Adventures of Roderick Random', 'The Adventures of Peregrine Pickle', and 'The Expedition of Humphry Clinker', inspired the likes of Charles Dickens.Volume I illustrated with an engraved frontispiece, and forty-five plates.Volume II illustrated with an engraved frontispiece, and twenty plates.Volume III illustrated with a frontispiece and twenty-two plates, one of which is folding.Volume IV illustrated with a frontispiece and twenty-six plates.Volume V illustrated with a frontispiece and twelve plates.Volume VI illustrated with a frontispiece and twenty-two plates.Collated, complete. In half calf bindings with marble paper covered boards, and gilt detailing to back strips. Externally, smart, but with front board of volume I exceptionally tenderly held to the tail only.
