An attractive set of twenty-five volumes, containing the broad range of works from Dr John Doran. Titles consist mainly of either first or second editions, with one being a fourth edition, making it a fantastic selection to hold from one of the most prolific essayists and critics of the nineteenth century. Comprising of histories, philosophical and social commentaries, ballads and other miscellaneous writings. 'Salad for the Social' is written by Frederick Saunders, an English-born American librarian. Most notably to 'Monarchs I', 'Drury Lane' both vols, and 'English Stage' vol III. Internally, generally firmly bound. With either a frontispiece or half title detached, but present to 'Monarchs I', 'Knights', 'Bentley Ballads', and 'New Pictures&apos. Pages are generally bright and clean, with age toning to the endpapers and occasional spots. With heavier scattered spotting to the first and last few leaves. Good . Ill.: Not Stated. Good .
