Collated, complete.'Hard Times' was first serialised in 'Household Words' between April and August 1854.The shortest of Dickens' novels, 'Hard Times' is set in a fictitious industrial town in Northern England, Coketown. In typical Dickens' fashion, the novel looks at the society of the day, satirising it's figures with poingtent takes on the economic and social conditions of its characters. Interestingly 'Hard Times' is one of only two of Dickens' novels that was not published with illustrations. In the first issue binding variant of green cloth with the spine priced in gilt.
