The powder of sympathy was a form of early pseudoscientific alchemy, in which a remedy was applied to the weapon that had caused an injury, with the intention of healing the wound it had made.Written anonymously, but it is believed that the author the Stuart courtier Kenelm Digby. He was a highly reputed natural philosopher, astrologer, intellectual, and Blacklorist. The Duke of Buckingham testified that Digby had healed a gangrenous wound on his secretary by soaking the bloody bandage in a solution of the powder, which is said to have consisted of green vitriol.
