This provides a fascinating look at Edwardian England, with what products were available and popular, and technology as it was then, with a detailed general index to the front. This 1906 catalogue also includes an advert for "a soft jointed bear, the best toy made for infants", a teddy bear which had been introduced to Harrods earlier in the year, to a great show of interest to the public. The Harrods Bear, Henry, is a bear still sold today, a quintessential part of Harrods. Harrods Henry was the bear purchased by A. A. Milne for his son - the bear which went on to inspire Winnie-the-Pooh.Fourteen pages of adverts to the front, and leaves of adverts throughout. Illustrated with three colour plates, and extensive in-text engravings throughout. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart with a dampstain to the spine and rear board. A few lighter marks to the cloth. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Gilt to the front board has faded. Front hinge is starting but firm. rear hinge is tender. Internally, firmly bound.
