Founded in 1853, the Science and Art Department was a British government body which promoted education in art, science, technology, and design in Britain and Ireland. It functioned up until 1899. These volumes contain reports on the progress of the department, with information on the results for examinations, a measure of the success and failure, of the board of visitors of the science and art museum, and more. With various appendixes. Previously held in the Ministry of Education Reference Library. In the original half calf with marbled boards. Externally, sound with rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities resulting in minor loss to the board tips. Light fading to the spines with the odd mark to the boards. Small cracks to the front joint of volume one. Ministry of Education Reference Library sticker to the rear boards. Front hinge tender to volume two. Internally, firmly bound.
