Up until the 19th century, St Mary Abbots was the only church in Kensington. At this time, the parish was absorbed into London, the parish's population increasing by about 10,000. Each page is illustrated with simple diagrams of the parish.Newspaper clipping pasted to the rear paste down. In a rebacked cloth binding, with the original boards and spine restored. Externally, smart. Spine and extremities are faded. Minor bumping to the extremities. A few light marks to the cloth. Hinges are starting but firm. Prior owner's ink inscription and stamp to the front paste down, and to the recto of the front endpaper, and head of the title page. Internally, firmly bound.
