He is subsequently the author of numerous works on Japanese culture and art, as well as an English-Japanese dictionary. Adorned with illustrations in colour, duo-tone and monochrome, comprising photographic plates as well as line drawings and other illustrations. With seventeen plates to volume I, sixteen to volume II, eighteen to volume III, seventeen to volume IV, sixteen to volume V, eighteen to volume VI, thirty to volume VII, twenty-one to volume VIII, nineteen to volume X, nineteen to volume XI, and sixteen to volume XII.
