'Little Sophy' is a touching short story of the illness and death of a parent's beloved child, interlaced with religious lessons and moral teachings that are aimed at children of a similar age. Although uncredited, other copies trace the authorship to Jane Wayland, who was also the author of works for adults including Dependence (1830) and Recollections of Real Life in England (1848).With an additional poem, "On his Beloved Sophy, by her Father" to the rear, embellished with a vignette. In the original cloth boards. Externally, generally smart. With fading and marks to the boards. Slight rubbing and bumping to the extremities, more so to the spine head and tail.
