Illustrated throughout, with a frontispiece to volume one, a fold-out facsimile on page 60 of volume one, and on page 225 of volume two, with two further facsimiles in the appendix of volume two and vignette illustrations throughout. Collated, complete. Both volumes have tipped in bookplates inscribed 'On loan from Lenkiewicz Foundation&apos. Robert Lenkiewicz (1941-2002) was an artist from South West England who didn't achieve commercial acclaim in his lifetime, but was held in high regard by the public, and built up a library of 25,000 books during his life. Both volumes feature two pages of advertisements at the rear. An in-depth study of the life and work of German polymath Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, from boyhood to his final years. Both volumes in publisher's cloth with gilt lettering to spine. Externally generally smart, with bumping to extremities. Volume one has damp staining to the rear board, resulting in some cockling. Volume two has tender hinges, a small hole in the front free endpaper and a detached but present rear endpaper. Additional image tipped in to recto of front free endpaper. Both volumes have tipped in bookplates inscribed 'On loan from Lenkiewicz Foundation&apos. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age toned but generally clean, with scattered spotting, heavier to the first and last few leaves. Dirty top edge? Corner thing? Good . Ill.: none stated. Good .
